Get Fresh Produce has been in business since 1982, providing fresh produce and other products to restaurants and other end users in the Chicago area. We are currently accepting applications for a Dispatch Specialist to work at our Bartlett, IL, main location. As our Dispatch Specialist, you will be responsible for providing day-to-day support for the Transportation department.

Responsibilities

• Provide day-to-day support for the Transportation department
• Ensure routes are accurately and completely shipped via cross-checking paperwork
• Accurately dispatch drivers from distribution facility with the equipment they need to service the customer
• Serve as the primary point of contact for our drivers while they are out on their routes
• Use dimensional thinking skills; multi-task and problem-solve as an integrated member of the shipping office
• Trouble-shoot problems on the fly and effectively manage tasks in a high-pressure environment
• Trouble-shoot customer service and equipment/truck related issues
• Handle and understand billing/shipping paperwork

Qualifications

• Must be able to demonstrate experience with a fast-paced dispatch/transportation environment
• Experience dispatching/managing 70+ local, multi-stop delivery drivers
• Efficient with computer-based dispatch programs, Outlook email and Excel spreadsheets
• High degree of comfort with technology
• Must be able to quickly navigate enterprise systems
• Must be able to communicate effectively via email, in person and on the telephone
• Understand what drives an effective safety culture and actively participates in the Company's mission to make decisions that positively impact the safety of our drivers
• Excellent interpersonal skills, able to listen for needs, check for understanding and accuracy, and build relationships with other employees
• Demonstrated ability to be highly accurate and efficient at clerical tasks in a distribution environment
• Legally able to work in the US
• Candidate must pass a pre-hire drug screen
• Able to speak and write fluently in English

Skills

• Experience in foodservice distribution a strong plus
• Understand FMCSA and DOT laws/requirements a plus
• Familiar with operation of unloading equipment (ie: lift-gates, ramps, 2-wheel hand carts)

Pay

Hourly pay $19 to $21 – based on experience.

Schedule

• 5-day work week (Monday thru Saturday) – Sundays off and one day during the week TBD
• 6-day work week as business needs arise
• 40+ hours
• Start time of 9:00am to 5:30pm until work is completed
• Mandatory holiday shifts
• This is an in-person position in Bartlett, IL
