Day to Day Substitute Teacher

Qualifications

• 60+ Credit Hours from an accredited college or university
• Michigan Substitute Permit
• Satisfactory Completion of Background Check
• Previous substitute teaching or classroom experience strongly preferred

Key Responsibilities

• Guides the learning process toward goals and objectives as indicated in the lesson plans.
• Maintains a well-organized and orderly classroom.
• Takes attendance in accordance with school procedures.
• Performs all duties of the absent teacher, such as lunchroom duty, hall monitoring, and dismissal duty.
• Follows emergency evacuations routes for the classroom assigned.
• Follows procedures for supporting scholars.
• Follows school procedures and regulations.
• Performs other related duties as directed by the building leader.

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

• Previous substitute teaching or classroom experience strongly preferred
• Ability to communicate effectively (verbal and written)
• Ability to understand and follow policy and procedures
• Ability to show empathy and maintain emotional control under stress
• Posses a growth mindset; open to receiving feedback and continuous improvement
• Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office/Google Suite
• Comfortable working with scholars at all grade levels K-8

Terms of Employment

• This is a part-time, on-call position.
• Professional Development will be provided through SubSchool.

Compensation

• $200/full day
