Day Shift Treatment Technician

About the role

Treatment Technicians complete the treatment plan prescribed by doctors, ensuring excellent patient care and customer service while maintaining a positive attitude.

Responsibilities

• Run diagnostic tests per doctor on duty orders
• Administer medications to hospitalized and boarded pets
• Handle intake and discharge of hospitalized patients
• Discuss financial standings and patient updates with pet owners
• Maintain daily hospital charges
• Chart and take notes using Smart-flow System/Cornerstone
• Maintain a clean treatment area
• Monitor anesthesia during surgery

Requirements

• Licensed Veterinary Technician or equivalent experience in emergency or critical care
• Understanding and confidence with treatment plans for critical patients (e.g., Cytauxzoonosis, DKA, GDV, Parvovirus, Kidney Failure, IMHA, ITP, Trauma/Shock, CHF, Seizures, Toxicities, HBC, ABD)
• Proficient use of medical terminology
• Proper animal restraint techniques
• Peripheral catheter placement and venipuncture
• Basic bandage application
• Administration of oral and parenteral medications
• Knowledge of various routes of drug administration
• Anesthetic monitoring, surgical scrubbing, gowning, and surgical prep
• Aseptic surgical area preparation
• Recording vital signs (Temp, Pulse, Resp, BP, and Pain Assessment)
• Perform basic laboratory tests (CBC, Chem17+Lytes, T4, Phenobarbital levels, All Snap Tests, Urinalysis, Coags, Blood slides, Ear cytology, PCV/TS, Fecal, etc.)
• Maintain proper medical records and computer skills
• Knowledge of in-house and reference laboratory tests
• Knowledge in the use of Cornerstone and Smart-flow (preferred but not required)

Schedule

• Day shift: 8 AM – 8 PM (12-hour shifts)
• Must be available to work some weekends and holidays
