About the role

The Evansville Psychiatric Children’s Center (EPCC) takes an interdisciplinary approach that provides strategies for the child’s biological, psychological, and social treatment simultaneously. All staff undergo extensive training to play their part in this approach. Youth learn through modeling and teaching via therapeutic relationships established with treatment staff.

Responsibilities

• Prioritize and organize daily patient care; make care assignments and assist in developing treatment plans in collaboration with clinical staff.
• Direct support staff to coordinate workflow and communicate problems to unit supervisors.
• Complete required documentation of nursing notes, transfer forms, and other records for accurate and timely reporting.
• Provide orientation and support to staff on the unit.
• Conduct ongoing assessment and documentation of individuals' physical and psychosocial status from admission to discharge.
• Administer medications and treatments according to facility policies and procedures.
• Develop and implement nursing care plans; adapt to evolving needs based on diagnosis or treatment plan changes.
• Complete medication administration supervision monitors and clinical observation notes for support staff.
• Educate individuals and family members regarding medication, procedures, and treatment goals.
• Respond and intervene in emergency situations and with agitated individuals to maintain safety and a therapeutic environment.
• Ensure proper safety and infection control standards are met for the unit.

Requirements

• Ability to understand and apply medical and facility terminology.
• Knowledge of and ability to interpret nursing and facility policies and procedures.
• Effective interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
• Ability to serve as a patient advocate.
• Ability to respond effectively in emergency situations and maintain composure under pressure.
• Ability to support individuals with behavioral or emotional needs.
• Proficiency in computer skills; ability to learn programs used in maintaining electronic medical records.
• Ability to use MS Office applications and electronic patient records.
• An Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Nursing from an accredited institution.
• An active Indiana Registered Nurse license and current CPR certification.
• Ongoing completion of behavioral intervention training relevant to the assigned setting.
• Ability to perform essential functions with or without reasonable accommodation.

This role may be utilized in a supervisory capacity based on agency needs.

Pay

The salary for this position traditionally starts at $62,218.00.
