About the role
The Shift Supervisor provides leadership and guidance to front-line employees in a start-up molded-pulp manufacturing facility producing primarily egg cartons. You will partner with HR and Operations leaders to hire, train, and supervise crew members operating Molding, Pulping, and Printing equipment.
Responsibilities
- Maintain a safe working environment by modeling safe behaviors, leading audits/inspections, correcting unsafe behaviors, conducting safety meetings, and ensuring proper work methods and equipment use.
- Partner with HR and plant leadership to attract, hire, and develop production crew; directly supervise, coach, mentor, and cross-train team members.
- Develop and mentor shift leads to oversee daily crew routines.
- Drive innovation by encouraging open dialogue, recognizing and rewarding ideas, and fostering a culture of trust and inclusiveness for process improvements.
- Optimize operations by evaluating and improving processes, procedures, and systems; monitor and evaluate crew performance to ensure safe and efficient equipment operation.
- Collaborate across departments and levels to implement cost-saving methods and improvements.
- Work with Plant Manager and Production Manager to uphold product quality standards and drive customer satisfaction.
Requirements
- Minimum 5 years of Shift Supervisor experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Strong verbal/written communication, interpersonal, and conflict resolution skills.
- Servant leadership style.
- Willingness to transition from 8-hour shifts to 12-hour overnight shifts as the facility becomes fully operational.
Qualifications
- Molded pulp or foodservice manufacturing experience preferred.
- CPR and first-aid certification, or willingness to obtain.
- Six Sigma certification or willingness to pursue.
- Self-directed with strong prioritization skills.
- Recruiting, interviewing, and hiring experience a plus.
- Bilingual abilities are a bonus.
