Responsibilities
- To assist in the daily operations of the Salvation Army day camp program.
- Counselors are responsible for the assigned participants in their group at all times.
- Supervise program participants, engage program participants in the scheduled program activities.
- Participate and model how to actively participate in activities in a positive manner for participants while supervising the group in the scheduled activities.
- Aid all teachers and program leaders in supervising and monitoring student’s behaviors, as well as modeling and encouraging student engagement while the lessons are being taught.
- Avoid leaving assigned program participants out of sight or out of earshot at any time, and adhere to restroom break policies.
- Provide a safe, educational, enriching, and fun environment for all program participants.
- Maintain control over assigned program participants’ behaviors to ensure adherence to program rules and regulations at all times to ensure safety.
- Adhere to the provided behavior plan and policy, manage student behavior issues according to program policy, and maintain a positive, encouraging, and compassionate attitude.
- Model appropriate behavior and responsible leadership to program participants at all times.
- Maintain a strong and positive attitude.
- Ensure open communication between supervisory staff and program staff.
- Ensure that the program rules and regulations are reviewed, distributed, and followed at all times by self and participants.
- Perform related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- High School diploma or equivalent with 2 years of work-related experience.
- Valid PA State Driver's License with a good driving record with 3 years experience; Must be able to pass Salvation Army driving test.
- Salvation Army KeepSafe certificates.
- Pennsylvania's Child Protective Services Law requires that all prospective employees complete the following clearance and background checks: PA Child Abuse History Clearance, PA State Police Criminal Record Check, and PA DHS Criminal Record/Fingerprint Check.
- In addition, completion of a Pennsylvania approved Child Abuse Recognition and Reporting Training is necessary prior to employment.
- Must understand and support for the Mission of The Salvation Army.
