Datamolino
About the Project
Datamolino, an invoice processing software company with over 10 years in the market, planned a complete redesign and custom development of their website, which had not been updated in some time. The project included updating their brand identity and improving the website’s architecture, navigation, and brand messaging to align with Datamolino’s vision and growth.
Phase One: Initial Discussions and Website Audit
We began with in-depth discussions to understand Datamolino’s objectives and expectations. An audit of the existing visual communication and website revealed a cluttered appearance, lack of a clear visual language, and structural inconsistencies in hierarchy and web modules.
Phase Two: Brand Sprint Workshop
A half-day brand sprint workshop with Datamolino’s leadership team distilled the brand’s essence and defined its future strategy. Through structured exercises, we explored core values, unique selling points, and target audiences, shaping the visual language, tone of voice, and copywriting direction.
Phase Three: Exploration and Creating Stylescapes
- Logotype Refresh: We updated the logo’s font to match the selected typeface while preserving the original brandmark, giving it a more modern and refined look.
- Color Palette: We refreshed the existing palette with deeper and brighter shades to enhance brand recognition, readability, and accessibility.
- Typography: We chose Poppins, a free Google Font, for its versatility, modern aesthetic, and readability across all platforms.
- Illustration Style: Custom hand-drawn illustrations and pictograms were created to reflect Datamolino’s accounting industry while capturing the brand’s essence and resonating with the target audience.
- Brand Applications: The identity was designed to be flexible, allowing for playful applications (e.g., landing pages, social media) or a minimalistic look for formal materials (e.g., sales decks, whitepapers).
- Brand Guidelines: A comprehensive document was delivered, outlining the color palette, typography, logo usage, imagery, illustration style, and tone of voice to ensure consistent application.
Phase Four: Creating Website Wireframes
We drafted initial wireframes focusing on content layout, functionality, and information flow. Modular components were developed to adapt to various content needs, improving navigation and user experience. Preliminary web copy was also drafted and refined through iterative feedback.
Phase Five: Messaging and Copywriting
We crafted clear, compelling copy that communicates Datamolino’s value propositions, simplifies text, and improves structure for better flow. The tone of voice was shaped to be simple, straightforward, friendly, and helpful, with several feedback rounds to ensure clarity and impact.
Phase Six: Web Design
A web design system was developed to ensure visual consistency, including a typography library, vector illustrations, and defined hierarchies for headlines, colors, and padding. Both desktop and mobile versions were designed for flawless responsiveness, resulting in a clean, human-centric, and approachable experience.
Phase Seven: Implementation
The approved design was turned into a fully functional WordPress website with a custom-coded visual editor for easy content updates. Each section was optimized for fast loading and performance, adhering strictly to the design specifications. Comprehensive optimization, including technical SEO, ensured a responsive and properly configured environment.
