Primary Responsibilities
- Own vision, strategy, and roadmap for the enterprise data platform, aligning with business objectives and manufacturing operations needs.
- Lead and develop a team of data engineers and platform specialists, fostering technical excellence and innovation.
- Define platform architecture standards, governance frameworks, and best practices for data management.
- Understand requirements across Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Finance, Quality, and IT to deliver platform capabilities that drive value.
- Establish platform KPIs and metrics to measure performance, reliability, cost-efficiency, and business impact.
- Drive evolution from legacy data systems to a modern, cloud-native data platform.
- Arcitect and oversee development of scalable, secure cloud-based data platform using modern technologies and best practices.
- Design and implement data integration frameworks to extract, transform, and load data from SAP, IFS, Quipware, BAAN, and other enterprise systems.
- Build robust data pipelines using PySpark, SQL, and cloud-native services for batch and real-time data processing.
- Establish self-service analytics capabilities, enabling business users to access and analyze data independently.
- Implement comprehensive data quality, lineage, and observability solutions across platform.
- Ensure platform security, compliance, and data governance in alignment with corporate policies and regulatory requirements.
- Own the end-to-end data platform infrastructure including ingestion, storage, processing, and consumption layers.
- Evaluate, select, and integrate technologies and tools that enhance platform capabilities (data warehousing, data lakes, orchestration, cataloging, etc.).
- Manage cloud infrastructure and optimize performance, scalability, and cost.
- Establish DevOps and DataOps practices including CI/CD, automated testing, and infrastructure-as-code.
- Manage vendor relationships with cloud providers, technology partners, and system integrators.
- Collaborate with IT teams to ensure seamless integration with enterprise systems and infrastructure.
- Partner with Analytics, Business Intelligence, and Data Science teams to enable their use cases on the platform.
- Work with ERP system owners to design optimal data extraction and integration patterns.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, or related field, along with at least 8 years of related experience.
- Non-degree considered if 16+ years of related experience along with a high school diploma or GED.
- Occasional Travel (0-5%)
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree is preferred. 10+ years of experience in data platform, data engineering, or related roles, with at least 4 years in leadership capacity.
- Proven track record of building and operating enterprise-scale data platforms in Fabric / Azure for manufacturing or similar industries.
- Cloud platform certifications (AWS Solutions Architect Professional, Azure Solutions Architect Expert, Google Professional Cloud Architect).
- Knowledge of data privacy regulations (GDPR, CCPA) and compliance frameworks. Six Sigma, Lean, or other continuous improvement certifications.
