Datalinks - Engineer

Job Duties

• Basic understanding of Python and basic experience with operating common tactical data link radios/terminals/gateways/modems, MIDS LVT (Link 16), MIDS JTRS (Link 16), AN/ARC-210 (U/VHF), AN/PRC-117G (U/VHF).
• Familiarity with data link waveforms and protocols: Link 16, Variable Message Format (VMF), and ability to develop and analyze data link messages (J-series messages, K-series messages).
• Knowledge of common military data link standards and protocols: MIL-STD 6016 (Link 16), MIL-STD 6017 (VMF).
• Experience with tactical data link software: Battlefield Operations Group Support System (BOSS), Amalgamated Remote Management System (ARMS), Link 16 Environment Gateway Stimulator (LEGS), Terminal Operational Environment Simulator (TOES), IDM Workbench, Protocol Analyzer, Message Analysis and Data Reduction for the Integration of Links (MANDRIL).
• Ability to order aircraft data for a specific Data Link and Aircraft, run software programs or manually analyze data, complete computer data transfers, and document results.
• Planning and conducting Data Link test missions, interacting with other platforms for interoperability testing, and operating Data Link equipment during missions.

Requirements

• Educational background: Bachelor of Science in Engineering from an ABET-accredited institution with 4 years of related experience, or accredited Master of Science in Engineering with 2 years of related experience, or accredited doctoral degree in engineering.
• Technical expertise: Mastery of engineering concepts, principles, and practices, ability to apply latest developments in engineering, excellent communication and analytical skills, working knowledge of computer systems and tools, and problem-solving skills.
• Work experience: Sufficient knowledge and skills to apply engineering principles to solve problems, ability to investigate, troubleshoot, and design solutions to hardware and software issues, and a valid driver's license.
• Security clearance: Top Secret with Special Access clearance required.
• Citizenship: U.S. citizenship is required.

Working Conditions

• Typical office environment with occasional lifting (up to 20 pounds), constant sitting, use of computer terminals, sight, speech, and hearing abilities for communication, and constant mental alertness.
• Occasional travel to remote company work locations.

Disclaimer

• The salary range for this position is $110,000 to $185,000 annually, subject to negotiation based on qualifications and experience.
• Some positions may require additional certifications/licenses, and the inability to obtain these may affect employment.
