About the role

As a Data Engineer at Kyndryl, you'll be the visionary behind our data platforms, crafting them into powerful tools for decision-makers. Your role involves transforming raw data into actionable insights that drive strategic decisions and innovation. You will engineer the backbone of our data infrastructure, ensuring the availability of pristine, refined data sets. By understanding project objectives and requirements from a business perspective, you'll convert this knowledge into data solutions, uncover quality issues, and architect data pipelines to cleanse, normalize, and transform raw data into final datasets. Your work will ensure data-driven decisions are made and lifecycle management keeps our data fresh and impactful.

Responsibilities

  • Design and shape data platforms to support organizational success.
  • Understand project objectives and requirements from a business perspective and translate them into data solutions.
  • Uncover data quality issues and derive initial insights.
  • Architect, build, and manage data pipelines to cleanse, normalize, and transform raw data into refined datasets.
  • Scrutinize data solutions to ensure alignment with business and technical requirements.
  • Manage data lifecycle to ensure freshness and impact.
  • Communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical colleagues to derive technical requirements from business needs.

Requirements

  • Expertise in data mining, data storage, and Extract-Transform-Load (ETL) processes.
  • Experience in data pipelines development and tooling, e.g., Glue, Databricks, Synapse, or Dataproc.
  • Experience with both relational and NoSQL databases, such as PostgreSQL, DB2, MongoDB, SQL Server.
  • Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and critical thinking skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining a high level of attention to detail.
  • Strong communication skills to interact with technical and non-technical colleagues.

Qualifications

Required Skills and Experience

  • Proven experience in data engineering.

Preferred Skills and Experience

  • Experience working in cloud modernization.
  • Experience in Data Modelling to create conceptual models of data connections and usage in business processes.
  • Professional certifications, e.g., Open Certified Technical Specialist with Data Engineering Specialization.
  • Cloud platform certifications, e.g., AWS Certified Data Analytics – Specialty, Elastic Certified Engineer, Google Cloud Professional Data Engineer, or Microsoft Certified: Azure Data Engineer Associate.
  • Understanding of social coding and Integrated Development Environments, e.g., GitHub and Visual Studio.
  • Degree in a scientific discipline, such as Computer Science, Software Engineering, or Information Technology.

Pay

The compensation range for the position in the U.S. is $73,440 to $139,680 based on a full-time schedule. Your actual compensation may vary depending on your geography, job-related skills, and experience. For part-time roles, the compensation will be adjusted appropriately. Specific ranges for certain locations include:

  • California (San Francisco Bay Area): $88,080 to $167,520
  • California (All Other): $80,760 to $153,600
  • Colorado: $73,440 to $139,680
  • Massachusetts: $73,440 to $153,600
  • New York City: $88,080 to $167,520
  • Washington: $80,760 to $153,600
  • Washington DC: $80,760 to $153,600
