About the role

This position supports the Database Management Section by helping maintain secure, reliable, and efficient database environments. The role assists with operational tasks, troubleshooting, system monitoring, and updates across multiple platforms.

Responsibilities

  • Complete assigned database tasks and assist with maintenance and troubleshooting
  • Review performance, space usage and operational jobs to prevent downtime
  • Support backup, recovery and disaster recovery processes to protect critical information
  • Evaluate logical and physical data models and contribute to solid design practices
  • Aid in audit requirements and help maintain secure access standards
  • Provide direction and training to staff on database tools, processes and best practices

Requirements

This particular position also requires six months or more of full-time professional experience with Linux operating systems.
This particular position also requires six months or more of full-time professional experience with Oracle database administration.
This particular position also requires six months or more of full-time professional experience with Erwin Data Modeler software.

Qualifications

  • One year as an Applications Developer 1 or Information Technology Generalist 1 (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
    Four years of information technology experience that includes one year in the analysis, design, and maintenance of databases in overall support of database administration or in the analysis and design in overall support of data administration;
    or
    Two years of information technology experience that includes one year in the analysis, design, and maintenance of databases in overall support of database administration or in the analysis and design in overall support of data administration, and an associate’s degree in any information technology field;
    or
    A bachelor's degree in any information technology field.
  • Applicants will be considered to have met the educational requirements once they are within 3 months of graduating with a qualifying degree.
  • You must meet the PA residency requirement.

Schedule

Full-time employment
Work hours are 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with 60-minute lunch.

In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania.

If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Harrisburg.

The ability to telework is subject to change at any time.
