About the role

This position is located in Arlington, VA, USA, and offers a hybrid working model. CGI Federal is seeking a Database Administrator to advance the national security mission through cutting-edge technology.

Responsibilities

  • Setting up and configuring database systems and servers according to the organization's needs.
  • Performing regular maintenance, applying patches and updates, and upgrading database software to ensure optimal performance.
  • Continuously monitoring database performance, identifying bottlenecks, and implementing solutions to improve speed and efficiency.
  • Implementing and managing security measures to protect sensitive data, including access controls and authentication.
  • Establishing and executing backup and recovery plans to prevent data loss and ensure business continuity.
  • Diagnosing and resolving technical issues and errors within the database environment.
  • Ensuring the accuracy, consistency, and reliability of the data stored within the databases.
  • Creating user accounts and assigning permissions to control access to databases and their data.
  • Monitoring and planning for future storage and resource needs to accommodate data growth.
  • Collaborating with other departments and developers to understand data requirements and integrate databases with applications.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree and/or 5 to 10 years of experience.
  • TS/SCI clearance required with the ability to obtain a TS/SCI with Poly highly desired.
  • Expertise in various database management systems (e.g., Oracle, MySQL, Microsoft SQL Server).
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills to address complex technical issues.
  • Meticulousness in managing data and systems to prevent errors and ensure accuracy.
  • Ability to communicate technical concepts and collaborate with both technical and business teams.
  • Deep understanding of data security principles and best practices.
