About the role
This position is located in Arlington, VA, USA, and offers a hybrid working model. CGI Federal is seeking a Database Administrator to advance the national security mission through cutting-edge technology.
Responsibilities
- Setting up and configuring database systems and servers according to the organization's needs.
- Performing regular maintenance, applying patches and updates, and upgrading database software to ensure optimal performance.
- Continuously monitoring database performance, identifying bottlenecks, and implementing solutions to improve speed and efficiency.
- Implementing and managing security measures to protect sensitive data, including access controls and authentication.
- Establishing and executing backup and recovery plans to prevent data loss and ensure business continuity.
- Diagnosing and resolving technical issues and errors within the database environment.
- Ensuring the accuracy, consistency, and reliability of the data stored within the databases.
- Creating user accounts and assigning permissions to control access to databases and their data.
- Monitoring and planning for future storage and resource needs to accommodate data growth.
- Collaborating with other departments and developers to understand data requirements and integrate databases with applications.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree and/or 5 to 10 years of experience.
- TS/SCI clearance required with the ability to obtain a TS/SCI with Poly highly desired.
- Expertise in various database management systems (e.g., Oracle, MySQL, Microsoft SQL Server).
- Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills to address complex technical issues.
- Meticulousness in managing data and systems to prevent errors and ensure accuracy.
- Ability to communicate technical concepts and collaborate with both technical and business teams.
- Deep understanding of data security principles and best practices.
