About the role

As a Database Administrator at XPO, you will work extensively with Oracle databases, focusing on SQL queries, plan review, and database administration. You will be responsible for daily monitoring of SQL performance, uptime, and driving resolution to technical issues. You will support database performance in collaboration with infrastructure and application teams, act as a liaison between project management, technical teams, and IT leadership, and contribute to defining application database standards by creating application data models.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor SQL performance, uptime, and resolve technical issues
  • Support database performance in the context of applications by working with infrastructure and application teams
  • Act as a liaison between project management, technical teams, and IT leadership to define and follow best practices
  • Drive consistency across applications and projects
  • Support deployment of new databases, schemas, and database objects, including ongoing maintenance
  • Contribute to defining application database standards by creating application data models
  • Assist application developers with SQL review
  • Manage the deployment of DDL/DMLs to the database
  • Develop PL/SQL procedures/packages and automation

Requirements

Minimum qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree
  • 2 years of database administration experience with Oracle Server
  • Expertise in Oracle technologies, OCI, and Exadata
  • Familiarity with monitoring tools like OEM
  • Strong proficiency with SQL, Oracle partitioning, and knowledge of Oracle PL/SQL (2+ years)
  • Experience with Linux and shell scripting
  • Experience with monitoring SQL performance and tuning (plan, baselines, profiles)
  • Experience developing PL/SQL procedures/packages and automation
  • Experience managing the deployment of DDL/DMLs to the database
  • Experience with CI/CD concepts

Preferred qualifications

  • 4+ years of experience with database administration within Oracle
  • Deep knowledge/experience in SQL, PL/SQL, and Oracle DBA tasks
  • Able to stay current with emerging trends and database technologies
  • Able to quickly learn and achieve proficiency in new software applications
  • Maintain thorough knowledge of internal company software applications applicable to the position/business unit
  • Oracle Database Certification
  • Oracle Advanced Queues knowledge
  • Data modeling skills and use of Entity-Relation (ER)
