Role Overview

The Database Administrator is responsible for supporting and managing Maxwood’s growing data platform built on Microsoft Fabric. This role works closely with Data Engineers, BI Analysts, and AI Specialists to ensure our data infrastructure remains scalable, reliable, and optimized for analytics and AI-driven initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Database Operations
    • Manage Microsoft Fabric dataflows and pipelines, minimizing downtime and operational failures
    • Monitor platform performance and proactively identify opportunities for improvement
    • Create and maintain standardized error reporting and issue resolution processes
    • Document configurations, procedures, and operational best practices
  • Data Integration & Connectivity
    • Establish and maintain API connections and external data integrations
    • Troubleshoot data flow issues and ensure reliable movement of data across systems
    • Support data ingestion processes and integration workflows across the organization
  • Cloud Resource Management
    • Manage resource allocation and capacity utilization within Azure
    • Monitor platform usage and recommend optimization strategies
    • Support scalability planning as data volume and business needs grow
  • Data Architecture & Enablement
    • Partner with Data Engineers and BI Analysts to improve data accessibility and usability
    • Work alongside AI Specialists to ensure data is structured, governed, and optimized for AI and machine learning workloads
    • Support the ongoing development of a scalable, AI-ready data warehouse environment

  • Strong collaboration across Analytics, BI, Data Engineering, and AI teams
  • Consistent adoption of best practices for data governance and platform management

Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience in a database, data engineering, analytics, or related technical role
  • Strong understanding of relational databases and data warehousing concepts
  • Proficiency with SQL
  • Experience working with cloud data platforms or modern ETL/ELT tools
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
  • Able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Eagerness to learn new tools and technologies in a rapidly evolving data ecosystem

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Microsoft Fabric
  • Familiarity with Azure services including Azure SQL, Synapse Analytics, and Azure Data Factory
  • Exposure to Microsoft data tools such as Power BI, SQL Server, and SQL Server Management Studio (SSMS)
  • Experience supporting modern analytics or AI-focused data environments
