About the role
The Database Administrator / DevOps Engineer in IT Operations (ITOps) manages the infrastructure technology and services supporting internally developed and managed business applications and databases (Application Infrastructure).
Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and maintain system administration plans, standards, and procedures that support secure, stable, and efficient application infrastructure operations.
- Review and evaluate existing application infrastructure to identify opportunities for modernization, optimization, enhanced security, and improved operational performance.
- Serve as a Tier 3 escalation point for complex infrastructure-related incidents and operational issues.
- Participate in knowledge transfer, cross-training, and mentoring activities to ensure adequate coverage for all application infrastructure systems.
- Collaborate with the Information Security section to support vulnerability remediation, infrastructure hardening, and security compliance initiatives.
- Provides rotating on-call coverage for unexpected system issues; shifts are weeklong, 24/7, and occur approximately once every four weeks.
- Identify, evaluate, and recommend new application infrastructure solutions that support operational and strategic objectives.
- Collaborate with SysDev and IT Management to ensure infrastructure solutions align with application, database, operational, and security requirements.
- Design, architect, implement, and document new application infrastructure solutions and related operational procedures.
- Support the procurement lifecycle for new application infrastructure solutions including evaluation, cost analysis, technical justification development, and implementation planning.
- Develop and maintain Infrastructure-as-Code solutions to automate and standardize cloud-based infrastructure deployments.
- Support infrastructure automation, deployment consistency, configuration management, and operational efficiency initiatives.
- Develop, maintain, and manage infrastructure code repositories utilizing version control and CI/CD pipelines.
- Maintain current infrastructure and application platform patching, versioning, and security baselines.
- Implement security enhancements and remediate infrastructure vulnerabilities, findings, and configuration issues.
- Design, implement, test, and maintain backup and restoration procedures to ensure business application resiliency and availability.
- Design, implement, document, and maintain disaster recovery (DR) solutions and activation procedures for production systems.
- Coordinate and participate in disaster recovery testing and validation activities to ensure operational readiness and recovery effectiveness.
- Comply with MassHousing’s Information Security Program and all other Agency information security policies and procedures.
- Take responsibility for any Agency assets assigned to you.
- Promptly report any security events, incidents, or weaknesses to MassHousing’s Information Security Team.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in information technology field or equivalent work experience.
- 10+ years of work experience with Microsoft SQL and Azure SQL database administration.
- 7+ years of work experience supporting Microsoft Azure IaaS and PaaS infrastructure environments.
- 7+ years of work experience with Microsoft on-premises application stacks.
- 5+ years of work experience administering Snowflake environments and database platforms.
- 5+ years of work experience with Infrastructure-as-Code deployments utilizing JSON and bicep and managing code in Git repositories.
Skills
- Knowledge of on-premises and cloud network architecture, virtual infrastructure, application publication solutions, and cyber security concepts.
- Knowledge of Microsoft system administration, including Active Directory, Entra ID, DNS, DHCP, and Windows Server.
- Knowledge of lifecycle concepts, including tracking and maintaining OS and application versioning and hardware refreshes.

Pay
$103,312.74 - $134,306.46
Schedule
MassHousing operates under a hybrid work model; therefore, employees are expected to work on-site according to a schedule determined in collaboration with their manager and based on the needs of the role.
