Non-exempt position; overtime at 1.5× base rate for hours over 40 per week, or as required by state/local law.
Responsibilities
- Provide database operations support, monitoring databases and backups, resolving repetitive and simple events, and escalating more complex incidents according to standard operating procedures.
- Ensure production database support with a focus on availability, capacity, performance, security, and recoverability.
- Perform database installation and configuration, tuning, capacity planning, health checks, backups & recovery, and change management according to documented standards.
- Troubleshoot issues with database instances, disaster recovery, replication, and backups, and eliminate root causes through systematic problem management practices.
- Offer database development/project support in compliance with database design standards.
- Design and develop database systems to meet application and business requirements across multiple platforms and computing environments.
- Provide guidance on best practices and standards and support project teams with database-related activities throughout the software development lifecycle.
- Evaluate and certify database technologies, assist in the management of vendor relationships, and define vendor product feature sets.
- Design, develop, and drive global implementation of database standards, tools, and procedures throughout the IT organization.
- Ensure database security controls meet internal and external audit and compliance requirements.
- Implement database technologies for global standards, data classification, and data privacy according to regulatory guidelines.
- Act as a technical subject matter expert in the development of highly complex, innovative, and cost-effective database solutions.
- Plan and manage the implementation and integration of new technologies.
- Provide ultimate direction for multiple projects and solve highly technical and complex problems.
- Act as a consultant to development groups, technical teams, executives, and customers.
- Serve as a consultant to senior leadership on database programs and long-term systems strategies.
- Provide expertise and guide work on complex database systems of great scope with advanced technical complexity that may have a global impact.
- Work with database functional management to initiate and lead strategic efforts.
- Share business vision with the database community and lead the team to achieve the vision through system design.
- Establish quality standards relative to all aspects of database management.
- Develop database systems as innovative solutions to previously undefined business/user needs.
- Perform complex application environment builds and refreshes.
- Provide advice, guidance, mentoring, and coaching to others.
Qualifications
- Extensive experience in database administration, design, and development across multiple platforms.
- Strong knowledge of database security, compliance, and regulatory guidelines.
- Proven ability to troubleshoot complex database issues and implement effective solutions.
- Experience with database installation, configuration, tuning, and capacity planning.
- Excellent communication and consulting skills, with the ability to work with senior leadership and technical teams.
- Demonstrated ability to lead strategic initiatives and drive global database standards.
Skills
- Experience with cloud-based database solutions and technologies.
- Familiarity with data privacy and classification standards.
- Strong project management skills and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Ability to mentor and coach junior team members.
- Recognition as a technical and subject matter expert in the field of database management.
- Strong data literacy and ability to use metrics to inform decisions and measure program impact.
- Experience running large sprints with short runway and supporting program work or events planning.
Pay
$72.00 – $74.00/hour.
