About the Role

The Data Warehouse and Business Intelligence Developer works with the Business Analytics team to define, develop, and support New Mexico Mutual analytic systems. The goal is to provide end users with timely, accurate, and easier access to data for reporting and analysis. This position is full-time and on-site in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Relocation is required if located out of state.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor and troubleshoot the existing ETL processes.
  • Enhance existing and create new ETL processes.
  • Monitor and troubleshoot existing BI applications, including frameworks, cubes, and reports, ensuring the availability of Cognos reporting for end users.
  • Enhance existing and create new BI applications.
  • Collaborate with the Analytics Technical Manager to design and implement data extraction programs that integrate seamlessly into BI solutions to meet end-user needs.
  • Analyze data to ensure accuracy and reconcile it to its source of origin.
  • Perform quality assurance testing prior to releasing data, information, or reports into production or to end users.
  • Explore and understand capabilities of BI tools (IBM Cognos) to expand BI knowledge, incorporating best practices into projects.
  • Share acquired knowledge with BA team members and end users when appropriate.
  • Collaborate with the Analytics Technical Manager to support all aspects of the DW/BI (Cognos/Business Objects) infrastructure, including Business Objects Data Services, IBM Cognos Data Manager, IBM Cognos Studios, Framework Manager, and Transformer.
  • Develop, maintain, and deliver technical documentation related to ETL development, scheduled processes, frameworks, and transformations.

Requirements

  • BS/BA in Information Management, Information Systems, or related business experience. Master’s degree in Computer Science preferred.
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in data warehousing, ETL, and Business Intelligence development and support, preferably in workers' compensation or a related field.

Skills

  • Ability to build and maintain relationships across the business and corporate departments.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Advanced Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Experience with SQL, PL/SQL, and Oracle preferred.
  • Experience with ETL (Business Objects), Business Intelligence, and OLAP Cubes (IBM Cognos) or similar tools.
  • Experience with data warehouse models; Ralph Kimball methodology preferred.
  • Guidewire knowledge is preferred.
