About the role
The San Francisco Chronicle is seeking an editor to lead data visualization as part of its data team. Data visualization is integral to the Chronicle's journalism, enhancing reader engagement through charts, maps, and data interactives.
Responsibilities
- Manage several data visualization reporters
- Work closely with the Chronicle’s design team and Hearst Devhub
- Develop and collaborate on data-driven stories
- Elevate the quality of graphics work to the next level
- Have the opportunity to work on your own stories
Requirements
- Experienced journalist with strong graphics-focused, front-end web development skills
- Proven track record in story development and collaboration
- Strong data manipulation and analysis skills
- Self-starter who works quickly and provides/takes feedback
- Committed to inclusive journalism
- Willingness to relocate to San Francisco for a hybrid workplace
