Data Systems Instrumentation Technician

About the role

The Data Systems Instrumentation Technician installs data acquisition equipment on PACCAR medium and heavy-duty semi-truck test vehicles. Working under the direction of engineers and senior technicians, this role involves installing electronic transducers and data acquisition equipment in line with test objectives and established procedures. The technician collects test track and field-testing data, ensures data quality, and prepares it for engineering analysis. Responsibilities also include operating and managing data acquisition equipment and maintaining accurate test-related documentation.

Responsibilities

• Specify, procure, and install transducers and data acquisition equipment
• Configure and operate data acquisition test control software
• Operate heavy-duty trucks on test track
• Prepare data for analysis
• Perform calibration of accelerometers, pressure sensors, and analog devices
• Maintain calibration database and other documentation
• Develop and maintain written process documentation
• Foster effective communication and cooperative work relationships with other departments
• Inform managers, peers, and internal customers of work progress and issues
• Adapt to changing duties, activities, and priorities

Requirements

• 3+ years of relevant work experience
• Experience in field test data collection
• Strong computer skills using Microsoft Office products
• Strong mathematical skills and basic knowledge of electronics
• Understanding of metrology calibration procedures
• Ability to troubleshoot basic electronic circuits
• Ability to read and understand engineering drawings
• Effective written and verbal communication skills
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
• Ability to operate heavy-duty vehicles (CDL not required; training provided)

Qualifications

AA Degree in a related technology or equivalent work experience.

Pay

$70,500 - $105,800 annually, plus full eligibility for the benefits listed above.
