About the role
We invite you to apply for the Data Specialist position within the Office of Administration, Information Technology Services Division (OA-ITSD) supporting the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) and the Department of Higher Education and Workforce Development (DHEWD). Authorization to work in the United States is a prerequisite of employment; the Office of Administration, Information Technology Services Division (ITSD) will not sponsor applicants for work visas.
The salary indicated represents a base pay rate. If the individual selected or the position is eligible for a pay differential (e.g., shift, security, or years of service), it will be added to the total compensation in your paycheck. A pay differential does not raise your base pay.
This is a critical position for database environment support and modernization, helping the team implement improvements and efficiencies to simplify DESE State and Federal Reporting through AWS, CEDS, and other modernization steps.
Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain ETL processes using Microsoft SSIS and SQL agent jobs.
- Support complex stored procedures and custom functions.
- Analyze, solve, and correct production issues and provide documentation.
- Effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a fast-paced environment using Agile methodology.
- Support the integration of enterprise application databases and real-time processing into the data warehouse.
- Create, adhere to, and enforce technical standards.
Requirements
- Experience with SQL Server and SQL Server query performance tuning.
- Ability to design databases including relationships, indexes, views, tables, and fields.
- Familiarity with Azure DevOps and Agile development concepts.
- Strong data investigation and problem-solving skills.
- Knowledge of SQL Server data warehousing, data architecture, design concepts with practical experience in the implementation of these concepts, and cloud technologies.
- Self-motivated with the desire to continually develop new skills and improve existing skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication and organizational skills.
