Data Security Engineer

Our client is seeking a Data Security Engineer to design, implement, and operate enterprise data security capabilities across endpoints, email, cloud platforms, and AI-enabled environments. The ideal candidate will have strong communication skills, the ability to execute independently, and the ability to build buy-in across stakeholders. This is a hybrid position based in the New York City Metropolitan area. Starting at $60/hour. Data Security Engineer's Responsibilities And DutiesDesign and implement enterprise capabilities to discover, inventory, classify, and label sensitive data across structured and unstructured repositoriesEngineer Data Loss Prevention (DLP) controls across email, endpoints, web, network, cloud, SaaS, and file-sharing platformsImplement Microsoft Purview Information Protection, sensitivity labeling, encryption, and rights-management controlsOperate Data Security Posture Management (DSPM) capabilities to identify data exposures and prioritize remediationPartner with Data, Technology, and business teams to maintain an enterprise catalog of sensitive and critical data assetsExtend traditional data security controls to AI and agentic environments, ensuring governed, least-privileged, and Just-in-Time (JIT) data access Data Security Engineer's Qualifications And SkillsAt least 7 years of professional experience in cybersecurity or information security, with hands-on experience in data security engineering, DLP, information protection, or DSPMHands-on experience designing, implementing, and operating enterprise DLP and/or DSPM platformsExperience with one or more of: Microsoft Purview, Netskope, Cyera, or VaronisStrong knowledge of data discovery, classification, sensitivity labeling, encryption, and rights managementFamiliarity with data access governance and least-privilege enforcementPrior financial services experience or experience at a major consulting firm is a plus, given the regulatory focus of this role RightClick is an equal opportunity employer who agrees not to discriminate against any employee or job applicant irrespective of race, color, creed, alienage, religion, sex, national origin, age, disability, gender (including gender identity), marital status, sexual orientation, citizenship or any other characteristic protected by law.
