Data Scientist - Sciences
About the role
The Data Scientist will support the Global R&D Sciences team in designing experiments and analyzing data to optimize experimental efficiency and minimize risks. They will also educate and collaborate with the team on statistical rigor, protocol reviews, and data interpretations.
Responsibilities
- Support R&D projects and products through input on designs of laboratory testing and/or analyses of existing data.
- Develop new approaches to complex problems through adaptations and modifications of standard technical principles, such as DMAIC, experimental DOE, and hypothesis testing.
- Affirm the use of appropriate statistical rigor in testing and data analyses.
- Design experiments and assist others with design of experiments, including determining variables, bounding the design space, identifying controls, and assessing R&R.
- Evaluate data, determine variability, and perform multivariate analyses to assess system sensitivity and variable impacts.
- Optimize systems or design further testing based on data analysis.
- Provide periodic updates to R&D Sciences management.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in engineering, science, math/statistics, or a related field.
- Greater than 10+ years of related experience, or Master's degree with greater than 7+ years of related experience, or PhD with greater than 5+ years of related experience.
- Experience working with laboratory or manufacturing data.
- Experience designing experiments (DOE).
- Ability to influence management on courses of action using data analyses with minimal assistance.
- Strong statistical background (education and/or work experience).
- Expert level user of common statistical tools like Minitab or JMP.
- Expert level user of statistical capabilities in Excel to solve business problems using complex and large data sets.
- Expertise in automating statistical data analysis using Python is preferred.
- Comfort with developing Excel macros and providing such templates to scientists.
- Formal DMAIC experience is required, Formal Design for Six Sigma experience preferred.
- GMP/GLP/GDP experience in medical devices and drug products highly preferred.

- Demonstrated ability and interest to work within a multidisciplinary team environment.
- Experience working with multidisciplinary teams.
- Ability to drive results on multiple simultaneous projects.
- Experience working in a regulated environment, such as medical device or pharmaceuticals.

Benefits
Vantive offers a competitive compensation package, including a range of $128,000 to $160,000 annually, with potential for bonuses. Pay
The estimated base salary for this position is $128,000 to $160,000 annually.
