Data Scientist III

About the role

The Data Scientist III supports the Product Manager Biometrics (PM BIO) within Project Manager Terrestrial Sensors (PM TS), Portfolio Acquisition Executive (PAE), Layered Protection and Chemical, Biological, Radiological, and Nuclear (CBRN).

Responsibilities

• Provide infrastructure support for interoperability between key government biometric systems.
• Enable rapid data sharing among DoD and interagency partners.
• Support Cloud application operations, maintenance, and enhancement activities.
• Audit and implement security controls to ensure compliance with government standards.
• Obtain a Cybersecurity Service Provider (CSSP) for the Cloud environment(s), including RMF documentation, vulnerability scans, and IAVM monitoring and response activities.
• Train users on operating applications in the cloud.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in a relevant technical discipline or two (2) additional years of relevant experience.
• Professional-level certifications such as AWS Certified Security - Specialty, Azure Security Engineer, or CISSP.
• Six (6) years in a cloud engineering, DevOps, or cloud security role.
• Familiarity with biometric modalities and standards governing their collection and storage.
• Hands-on experience with AWS or Azure, with a strong preference for experience in their respective government clouds.
• Strong understanding of cloud networking principles, including VPCs, subnets, routing, VPNs, and hybrid cloud connectivity.

Qualifications

• Secret security clearance required.

• Technical proficiency in AWS or Azure, with government cloud experience preferred.
• Experience with biometric modalities and related standards.
• Strong understanding of cloud networking and security principles.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
