Data Scientist II, Amazon Currency Convertor

About the role

The Amazon Payments Data Science team is seeking a Data Scientist to build analytical solutions addressing complex business questions in the Amazon Currency Converter space. This role involves understanding causal inference models, developing solutions using machine learning techniques, and collaborating with internal stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Understand the applications of causal inference models on real datasets, including assessment of marketing campaigns, online experiments, and uplift analysis
• Develop meaningful solutions comprising of analytics and marketing management
• Work closely with internal stakeholders like the business teams, engineering teams, and partner teams
• Innovate by adapting new modeling techniques and procedures
• Perform effective exploratory data analysis and model building using industry-standard regression and classification techniques such as Random Forest, XGBoost, and Keras framework
• Fine-tune Amazon LLMs to handle large blocks of text, use Generative AI for summarization tasks, prevent catastrophic forgetting, perform feature engineering on massive datasets
• Bring datasets together to answer business questions and demonstrate deep expertise in dataset creation and management
• Implement and operate stable, scalable data flow solutions from production systems into end-user facing applications/reports, ensuring these solutions are fault tolerant, self-healing, and adaptive

Requirements

• 2+ years of data scientist experience
• 3+ years of experience with data querying languages (SQL), scripting languages (Python), or statistical/mathematical software (R, SAS, Matlab, etc.)
• 3+ years of experience with machine learning/statistical modeling, data analysis tools, and techniques, and parameters affecting their performance
• Experience applying theoretical models in an applied environment

Qualifications

• Experience in Python, Perl, or another scripting language
• Experience in a ML or data scientist role with a large technology company
