About the role
PhD internships at TikTok provide students with the opportunity to actively contribute to our products and research, as well as to the organization's future plans and emerging technologies. Our dynamic internship experience blends hands-on learning, enriching community-building and professional development events, and collaboration with industry experts.
Responsibilities
- Analyze large and complex datasets to solve challenging business problems using a range of analytical methods.
- Design, analyze, and interpret projects end-to-end, from data requirement gathering and processing to modeling and developing actionable business recommendations.
- Partner with cross-functional teams to identify opportunities that leverage advanced analytical and modeling techniques.
- Design, execute, and interpret experiments, including A/B tests, to generate actionable insights.
- Communicate insights and recommendations effectively to team leadership and contribute to strategic decision-making.
Requirements
- Currently pursuing a PhD degree in a quantitative field such as Economics, Statistics, Applied Mathematics, Engineering, Computer Science, or Business Analytics.
- Experience with data querying and manipulation using SQL, Python, or R.
- Experience performing data analysis using a scripting language such as Python, R, or MATLAB.
- Must be able to commit to a 12-week full-time internship during Summer 2027.
Qualifications
- Internship or research experience in data science.
- Experience working with cross-functional teams.
- Strong ability to learn quickly, work independently, and solve complex problems creatively.
- Strong sense of ownership and ability to translate analytical insights into business impact.
- Strong collaboration and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, culturally diverse, and globally distributed team environment.

Pay
The hourly rate range for this position is $35–$55.
