Data Science & Automation Intern

About the role

A global telecom leader, serving over 1,000 networks across 180+ countries and holding over 50% of the U.S. wireless network market, is seeking an intern to support the growth of its North American business. This opportunity offers exposure to Finance, Accounting, Commercial, Operations, and transformation teams while addressing complex business challenges through technology, automation, and data science in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Modernize Finance by applying data science, AI, analytics, and automation to solve business problems.
• Build, maintain, and optimize data pipelines using SQL, Python, and automation tools.
• Apply AI, machine learning, and advanced analytics to generate predictive and actionable insights.
• Support Period End Closing (PEC) quality checks, reconciliations, and financial performance analysis.
• Build financial models, forecasts, and business cases to support decision-making.
• Prepare executive-ready insights, presentations, and recommendations for finance leadership.

Requirements

• Pursuing a bachelor's or master's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Analytics, Data Science, Computer Science, Engineering, Statistics, or Mathematics.
• Strong academic record or relevant internship/project experience in finance, analytics, data, or business intelligence.
• Proficiency in SQL, Python, Excel, and Power BI (or similar BI/reporting tools).
• Exposure to AI/ML, predictive analytics, automation, or Generative AI is a plus.
• Understanding of ETL/ELT, data pipelines, data quality, data modeling, and reporting concepts.
• Ability to translate data into actionable business insights with strong attention to accuracy, governance, and controls.
