About the Role
This is a 100% remote position. CHLA requires a primary residence in California prior to start date.
The Data Science Analyst II, under the direction and supervision of the Director of Analytics, will play a hands-on role in our Office of Enterprise Data (OED). The Data Science Analyst II collaborates with stakeholders across the organization to develop sophisticated analytics to provide information, insights, and BI (Business Intelligence) solutions that contribute to sound strategic planning, decision-making, goal setting, and effective performance measurement.

Responsibilities
- Develop sophisticated analytics to provide information, insights, and BI solutions.
- Collaborate with stakeholders across the organization to support strategic planning, decision-making, and performance measurement.
- Apply advanced data prep skills using scripting languages like Oracle PL/SQL, MS SQL, R, Python, etc.
- Develop BI solutions using Tableau and/or PowerBI.
- Work with Data Analytics platforms such as Azure Data Lake, Azure Synapse, Azure Fabric, Oracle DB, and SQL Server.
- Manage multiple projects, prioritize workload, and meet deadlines in a rapidly evolving environment.
- Engage and influence diverse stakeholders with varying skill sets through strong verbal and written communication.
- Execute job responsibilities promptly, reliably, honestly, and ethically.
Requirements
- 5 years of experience in healthcare, including familiarity with hospital systems, diverse healthcare data sets (claims, EHR, clinical data, structured and unstructured data), analytics, data management, and data visualization.
- Advanced analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills beyond an entry-level Data Science Analyst.
- Advanced data prep skills using scripting languages like Oracle PL/SQL, MS SQL, R, Python, etc.
- Advanced BI development skills using Tableau and/or PowerBI.
- Understanding of and familiarity with Data Analytics platforms like Azure Data Lake, Azure Synapse, Azure Fabric, Oracle DB, SQL Server, etc.
- Self-paced, self-motivated, and flexible in a rapidly evolving environment.
- Strong verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills.
- Organized, detail-oriented, and able to prioritize workload and manage multiple projects.
- Proactive learner with initiative to acquire and apply new skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), including creating charts and graphs.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited university in a relevant field (Public Health, Statistics, Math, Computer Science, Information Systems) or HS Diploma/GED plus 8 years of direct experience.
- Preferred: Master’s degree in a relevant field (Business Analytics, Data Science, Statistics, MBA, Computer Science, MPH, etc.).
