Data Risk Director

Job Summary

Become a member of Huntington’s Independent (2nd Line) Technology Risk function! We are looking for an IT Risk Director to provide primary oversight for the Data Management, Data Governance, and Data Quality risk domains across the Bank. This 2nd line of defense role includes providing credible challenge and partnership for these domains, as well as assisting 1st line risk teams with their understanding and management of associated risks. The role functions as a senior member of the IT Risk team and will be required to provide an independent, expert view in materials and forums, up to and including the Board of Directors.

Responsibilities

• Provide Risk Management leadership across the Bank’s Data Management, Data Governance, and Data Quality risks.
• Lead the determination of the Technology Risk Program's strategy and areas of focus.
• Own the Data Management risk in the Huntington IT Risk Framework and Taxonomy, including relevant assessments and metrics/indicators.
• Engage and partner with the Chief Data and Architecture Office (CDAO) and its business unit, as well as with 1st line risk groups that directly support the CDAO business unit.
• Lead and participate in the quarterly Operational Pillar Risk Assessment, detailing the comprehensive, aggregate Technology Risk profile for the Bank.
• Lead the annual Data Management Risk Assessment for the Bank.
• Provide vertical 2nd line IT risk coverage for the CDAO business unit and related efforts across the Bank’s segments, enhancing engagement in new initiatives and overseeing remediation programs.

Basic Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent level of work experience.
• 10+ years of experience implementing data governance frameworks (e.g., data policies, standards, and controls).
• Experience developing and/or implementing data governance policy and standards.
• Experience working with IT and/or business segments on analysis of complex business processes and data governance needs.
• Proven ability to lead successful teams.

Preferred Qualifications

• Technical leadership and management experience on data‑centric efforts.
• Prior experience in risk management and/or regulatory compliance.
• Experience communicating with regulators.
• Ability to work collaboratively and influence/drive consensus across a large and growing company.
• Excellent communication and strong interpersonal skills; ability to speak autonomously on behalf of the 2nd Line of Defense and influence at senior executive level.
• Ability to develop, attract, and retain a high‑performing team; demonstrated coaching and development of colleagues at all levels.
• Previous experience at a large firm, ideally in a leadership position; prior/current financial services industry experience is also desired.

Exempt Status

Exempt (not eligible for overtime pay).

Workplace Type

Office – Certain positions outside the branch network may be eligible for a flexible work arrangement that combines in‑office and work‑from‑home options. Remote roles may also gather in offices for key moments. Specific arrangements will be provided by the hiring team.

Compensation

Base salary range: $155,000 – $255,000 annually. Actual compensation varies based on location, experience, and education. Eligibility for an incentive compensation plan.
