About the role
The Data Recorder Coordinator supervises the IEP Help Desk to ensure timely and accurate submission of data to KSDE for the December 1 and June 1 counts as well as other data requirements as outlined in the State Performance Plan.
Responsibilities
- Must be a self-starter who is able to work independently,
- Demonstrates sound judgment and exceptional problem-solving abilities while making independent decisions.
- Responsible for timely and accurate completion of all data collection and uploading necessary for compliance with State Performance Plan, Indicator 20 expectations,
- Supervise and lead two data clerks as they perform necessary duties,
- Receive and respond to telephone calls and emails regarding IEP processes and procedures and access to the WebIEP system,
- Review incoming IEPs for compliance with District and State requirements,
- Enter information into Synergy (evaluation date, exceptionality, consent date, IEP date, etc.),
- Enter required data into State data management system as required for June 1 and December 1,
- Complete the verification process with KSDE for June 1 and December 1,
- Cookordinate with high school department chairs to facilitate the transfer-in process,
- Work with members of the IEP team and consulting teachers to identify and correct systemic concerns with the preparation of IEPs,
- Assist with Developing and streamlining user-friendly IEP processes,
- Collaborate with the Demographics department to update and correct data as needed,
- Verify student status by reviewing information contained in Student Information System, KIDS and by collaborating with buildings for information,
- Collaborate with consulting teachers to identify teachers/staff needing assistance and support in the IEP writing process.
- Assist consulting teachers with the preparation of the IEP handbook,
- Serve as a contact person for the WebIEP regarding IEP program questions and concerns.
Qualifications
- Graduation from high school or equivalency.
- Post-high school training in operation of computers, office software and peripheral equipment preferred.
- Three years’ experience in a position requiring demonstration of strong leadership capacity, office technology skills and data management/reporting.

- Ability to work independent of direct supervision,

- Leadership skills necessary to promote teamwork and timely task completion,
- Knowledgeable in computer operation and standard office software applications,
- Knowledge of data integration procedures and applications,
- Ability to develop and sustain effective, professional working relationships,
- Skilled in completing work with a high level of accuracy; strong detailed orientation,
- Ability to communicate effective orally and in writing.
Physical/Emotional Requirements
- Ability to maintain composure and positive attitude when under pressure,
- Move throughout the work location, lifting 10-20 lbs.,
- Hand/Finger dexterity, eye/hand coordination necessary to perform required tasks,
- Respond positively to above-average pressure,
- Intense and analytical thinking due to multiple, unrelated demands on time and attention,
- Ability to spend extended periods of time seated and working at a computer.
Terms of Employment
- 10.5 months;
- Salary commensurate with experience.
Evaluation
Performance of this position will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the board policy on evaluation of Classified Personnel.
