Salary Range: $4,221.00 per month (based on full-time employment; includes applicable shortage and school year differentials).
Responsibilities
- Provides training and assistance to users on system equipment, procedures, and computer application programs.
- Conducts hands-on training in proprietary departmental information systems applications (e.g., Financial Management System, Local School Accounting, Time & Attendance, eSIS, Form 7, Casual Payroll), including:
- Installation and configuring of various applications.
- Configuring network and VPN connections.
- Proper procedures for bringing up and shutting down equipment.
- Keyboard operation, logging on and off various systems.
- Prepares training outlines, lesson plans, visual aids, exercises, and informational material.
- Provides training updates for new releases or upgraded programs.
- Troubleshoots hardware and software problems, including operating systems, internet, and applications (e.g., Microsoft Office, electronic mail).
- Diagnoses causes of processing interruptions and takes corrective action as defined in operating instructions or based on experience.
- Consults manuals, vendors, or higher-level data processing personnel for assistance when needed.
- Determines whether to place a service call or refer problems to higher-level personnel.
- Documents problems and resolutions for future reference.
- Participates in testing new software releases, identifies problems, and recommends solutions.
- Maintains contact with users to monitor training effectiveness and reinforce learning.
- Responds to user questions about software capabilities and assists in simplifying application use.
- Creates models, worksheets, electronic forms, and data files to support departmental financial, budgetary, and operational requirements.
- Performs rudimentary programming tasks, such as generating ad hoc reports.
- Performs work-site installation and reinstallation of system hardware, software, and PC-supported applications.
- Schedules and coordinates training center activities (e.g., training classes, video conferences).
- Orders supplies, maintains inventory, and coordinates maintenance and repair of training center equipment.
- Maintains training center servers and tracks expenditures.
Requirements
- Basic Education Requirement: Graduation from high school, with satisfactory completion of courses demonstrating knowledge of English grammar, spelling, and punctuation. Equivalent experience may substitute for education if it demonstrates knowledge of correct English grammar and usage, ability to read and apply written instructions, and strong verbal skills.
- Experience Requirements:
- General Experience: 2 years of work demonstrating the ability to read and understand complex written materials and write clearly.
- Specialized Experience: 2 years of work demonstrating effective use of personal computers, peripheral equipment, and a variety of applications (e.g., word processing, electronic mail, spreadsheet, database management). At least 1 year must involve:
- Providing assistance and advice to users in resolving hardware and software problems.
- Identifying and resolving issues (e.g., user error, printer error, system/network error) based on experience, manuals, or vendor/higher-level personnel consultation.
- Total Experience: 4 years (2 years General + 2 years Specialized). For the II level, at least 1 year must include experience preparing training outlines, visual aids, and delivering group technical instruction.
- Substitutions Allowed:
- A Bachelor’s degree in Education or a professional diploma in Education may substitute for all General Experience.
- 15 semester credits from an accredited college may substitute for up to 6 months of General Experience (max 1 year).
- A Bachelor’s degree in Information and Computer Science may substitute for all Specialized Experience.
- An Associate in Science Degree in Data Processing may substitute for all Specialized Experience.
- A Certificate of Achievement (30 credits) in Data Processing may substitute for 1 year of Specialized Experience.
- A Certificate of Completion (12 credits) in Data Processing may substitute for 6 months of Specialized Experience (but not for problem-resolution experience).
- Lift and Carry Requirement: Ability to lift and carry objects weighing up to 40 pounds unassisted.

Schedule
