Data Privacy Engineer
About the Role
Stratacent is looking for a Data Privacy Engineer with strong experience in Cloud Data Governance and Catalog (CDGC) and Data Privacy Management (DPM), implementing enterprise-wide data governance and privacy solutions.
Responsibilities
- CDGC scanning & onboarding: Configure and operate CDGC metadata/data scans, schedules, scope rules, and performance-safe scan settings; onboard new sources end-to-end.
- Connection setup: Create and maintain secure connections (JDBC/ODBC/connectors), service accounts, and credential management for enterprise data platforms.
- Access troubleshooting: Diagnose and resolve scan failures related to RBAC/privileges, expired credentials, TLS/certificates, drivers, firewall/ports, DNS, and network routes.
- Catalog operations: Curate catalog assets (domains, tags, ownership/stewardship), support glossary alignment, improve metadata quality, and ensure consistent taxonomy/naming standards.
- Sensitive data support: Assist with configuring and validating sensitive data identification/classification outcomes (PII/PHI/PCI) and reduce false positives/negatives in partnership with data owners.
- AWS support: Work within AWS environments to enable scanning connectivity (VPC/security groups, private endpoints/PrivateLink patterns where applicable) and support components running on EKS (logs, configs, secrets, scaling) when needed.
- Operational excellence: Provide scan coverage and health reporting, and support incident/problem management for catalog/scanning services.
Required Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Business, IT, Engineering, or a related field
- Experience in data governance/catalog operations, privacy tooling, data engineering, or production support for data platforms.
- Strong hands-on experience with Informatica CDGC (connectors/scanners, metadata ingestion, scan operations, troubleshooting).
- Experience integrating and troubleshooting connections to databases/platforms including DB2, Oracle, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Snowflake.
- Strong SQL skills and ability to validate schemas, permissions, and scan behavior.
- Solid understanding of authentication/authorization concepts (least privilege, service accounts), secure credential handling, and basic network troubleshooting.
