About the role
We are seeking a Data Operations Director to lead our efforts in leveraging data to drive business growth, enhance decision-making, and improve operational efficiency. Reporting directly to the Chief Operating Officer, this role oversees a team of skilled data-focused professionals and manages complex BI projects.
Responsibilities
- Maintain and optimize operational BI systems, including data processing efficiency, analytics accuracy, and reporting tool responsiveness.
- Identify and resolve issues or bottlenecks in data processes, and implement further automation.
- Establish, refine, and optimize data management practices, including data quality, ownership, lifecycle management, and privacy.
- Motivate, mentor, and train employees for professional development, engagement, and continuous improvement.
- Set high performance expectations, conduct audits, and provide feedback to ensure expectations are met.
- Support the Account Team by performing various tasks directed by Account Directors, Managers, and Leaders.
- Manage a team of data specialists, including a Client Data Strategist, Data Project Manager, Data Specialist, and Retail Program Data Manager.
- Train the data analytics team on the latest tools and methodologies, and ensure all tools and software are up-to-date.
- Collaborate with other personnel and external vendors for data acquisition or technology tooling needs.
- Perform miscellaneous projects and tasks as requested by management.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience.
- Proven experience in a data operations role with at least 3-5 years of experience in a managerial position.
- Total 7+ years of working in the data domain as a data practitioner.
- Excellent leadership and team management skills.
- Experience with continuous improvement, using concepts like lean management, six sigma, or TQM.
- Experience with SQL and data visualization/reporting tools such as Tableau or Quicksight.
- Quicksight highly preferred.
