It facilitates accurate and reliable data delivery to internal teams including Engineering, Operations, Analytics, Clinical, and Machine Learning, thereby supporting various healthcare functions.

About the Opportunity:The DATA INTEGRATION ENGINEER role is responsible for managing the full lifecycle of external healthcare data integrations. This position ensures the technical implementation and daily operations of data exchanges, contributing to the organization's ability to deliver trusted and standardized healthcare datasets. The role provides technical leadership in data integration, impacting the efficiency and reliability of data flows critical to multiple internal stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Manage technical integrations with external healthcare partners such as TPAs and provider networks.
• Oversee ingestion, lifecycle, and governance of provider, network, and reference data.
• Define and maintain partner integration specifications, including file layouts, APIs, schemas, and data contracts.
• Lead onboarding of new partners and manage modifications to existing integrations.
• Collaborate with partner technical teams to resolve production data exchange issues.
• Ensure reliable, secure, and timely delivery of healthcare data.
• Design and maintain mappings from partner-specific formats to the canonical data model.
• Develop reusable integration patterns for file-based, API-based, and event-driven exchanges.
• Build and improve ingestion services handling validation, transformation, reconciliation, and processing.
• Maintain backward compatibility amid evolving partner formats and requirements.
• Work with Engineering teams to provide consistent, well-defined data to internal consumers.
• Operate and support production ingestion pipelines.
• Monitor integration health, data quality, and service-level agreements.
• Implement validation, reconciliation, duplicate detection, and error recovery.
• Perform root cause analysis for integration issues and coordinate resolutions.
• Enhance observability through monitoring, alerting, dashboards, and runbooks.
• Establish standards for external data quality, validation, and canonical mapping.
• Ensure completeness, accuracy, and consistency of incoming data.
• Collaborate with Operations, Analytics, Clinical, and Product teams to improve data quality.
• Ensure compliance with HIPAA and healthcare data regulations.
• Serve as primary technical contact for healthcare data integrations.
• Partner across departments and external organizations to prioritize integrations and solve data challenges.
• Mentor engineers and promote best practices in integration engineering and operations.
• Participate in hiring, process improvements, and development of the Data Integration function.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related technical field.
• 5–7+ years of experience in healthcare integration engineering, backend engineering, data engineering, or similar areas.
• Experience with file-based (CSV, JSON, XML) and API-based data exchanges.
• Proficiency in data ingestion, transformation (ETL/ELT), canonical data modeling, and validation frameworks.
• Experience managing production data pipelines focusing on reliability, observability, and troubleshooting.
• Ability to define integration contracts and collaborate with external partners.
• Strong skills in SQL and AWS services including S3, Lambda, SQS, EventBridge, and Glue.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
