About the role
The Data Governance Analyst at Regions serves as a key resource and intermediary between data owners and data consumers, focusing on maintaining data quality and supporting data management standards.
Responsibilities
- Maintains connections and competencies in technical, operational, reporting, and analytical data needs of the bank's data citizens.
- Mainters data quality, designs, and executes remediation plans, and supports data management standards.
- Implements and supports data quality requirements, including business rules and movement controls.
- Performs user acceptance testing and reviews results with Data Owners for approval.
- Manages and resolves data issues identified by Data Owners and Data Consumers.
- Manages, executes, and tracks data quality remediation plans in coordination with all stakeholders.
- Tracks and reports data quality statistics for data stewardship applications, warehouses, or marts.
- Captures and updates business metadata and references data for assigned areas.
- Translates business rules into data quality rules and produces data controls (in conjunction with Data Custodians).
- Ensures data for all Enterprise Critical Data Elements (ECDEs) is provisioned in an appropriate authoritative source (in conjunction with Data Custodians).
- Supports applications and platforms to enable effective sharing of data from authoritative data sources.
- Provides training and data assistance as needed.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Management, Information Systems, or related field and five (5) years of Business Analysis, Systems Analysis, or related experience.
- High School Diploma or GED and nine (9) years of Business Analysis, Systems Analysis, or related experience.
Preferences
- Master’s degree in Business, Science, or related field.
Skills and Competencies
- Ability to translate business needs into technical solutions.
- Work under moderate guidance.
- Day-to-day, hands-on execution.
- Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of applicable tools (e.g., DG, DQ, Metadata tool).
- Experience in data analytics, data profiling, and transformations.
- Experience with Exact, Transform, Load (ETL) and Lineage tools.
- Familiarity with data quality issues and ETL processes.
- Solid written, interpersonal, analytical, and application development skills.
- Strong ability to review and analyze data, and identify and resolve problems.
- Strong project management skills.
- Strong research and problem determination and solution skills.
- Strong skills in data analysis - developing macros, scripts, queries to calculate data quality.
- Understanding of data architecture practices.
Qualifications
- Serves as the primary data governance lead for Marketing Communications (MarComm), ensuring proper inventory, classification, mapping, and governance of marketing data across MarComm-used systems.
- Liaises between MarComm, IT, and cross-functional partners to support compliant data use and operational transparency.
- Establishes and operationalizes a formal data oversight program for MarComm based on the above responsibilities.
