About the Role
This position involves managing reference data sets, developing data governance frameworks, and ensuring high data quality and standardization across Munich Reinsurance America, Inc. The role requires collaboration with various teams to align data standards and improve data interoperability in underwriting and claims applications.
Responsibilities
- Manage existing and new reference data sets by developing procedures, routines, and approval flows to ensure consistency, comprehensiveness, and standardization.
- Support the continued development of the Reference Data Management (RDM) framework and solution, including use case development and testing.
- Manage insured and broker party types, and assist in establishing additional party types and roles, including process development and match-merge routines.
- Serve as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) to guide the integration, consumption, and interoperability of master and reference data into core applications.
- Collaborate with Data Product Owners to align and adopt data standards, ensuring consistency in reporting.
- Develop a data quality framework to validate standards and establish mitigation routines, escalation processes, and data quality rules.
- Define frameworks and solutions for new data domains requiring standardization and harmonization.
- Document, organize, and maintain repositories for key artifacts to ensure easy access and reference.
- Liaise with and educate business partners through community of practice routines to address emerging data-related items.
- Partner with Data, Product Ownership, Analytics, Actuarial, Distribution, and Claims teams to ensure consistency in business rules, data models, and transformation processes.
- Maintain and develop a glossary of business terms and related data elements, including synonyms and domain relationships.
- Advocate for standardization and control mechanisms to optimize cost and efficiency by reducing coordination processes and reusing data.
- Assess processes against compliance guidelines and security requirements, monitoring and reviewing privacy policies.
- Communicate with stakeholders, develop training, and provide utilization support.
Requirements
- Master’s degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Business Analytics, Math, or a related field.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Data Engineer, Data Analyst, or in a closely related position involving data domain ownership and stewardship in the specialty insurance industry.
- Experience navigating complex, regulated data environments by standardizing processes, strengthening data stewardship, and delivering business-focused analyses under tight timelines.
- Applied knowledge of US commercial specialty insurance processes, terminology, and concepts throughout the insurance lifecycle.
- Experience with Agile development methodologies and tools such as Jira and AzureDevOps.
- Ability to collaborate with data engineers, architects, and analysts on data projects.
- Must be able to report to the New York, NY office 2 times per week, though telecommuting is allowed.
Pay
$114,400 per year.
