Job Description
The ETL Developer is responsible for the design, development, implementation, and support of new and existing ETL and ELT processes. This role will begin in a production support capacity, handling incidents and troubleshooting, before transitioning to project-based work. The ideal candidate is a self-motivated individual with experience in AWS and cloud-based development, who demonstrates ownership, accountability, and a positive, team-first attitude.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, implement, and support new and existing ETL and ELT processes.
- Serve in a production support role, investigating and resolving data pipeline issues.
- Trace data inaccuracies reported via API or reporting tools back to the source system to identify and fix the root cause.
- Develop, test, and maintain the code required to move data, leveraging GitHub for deployments.
- Participate in a production on-call support rotation schedule.
- Maintain documentation on ELT processes and procedures.
- Assist with the creation and maintenance of ELT specifications, such as source-to-target maps.
- Conduct project-specific data analysis, including analyzing and mapping required data.
Requirements
- Advanced command of SQL and PL/SQL.
- Technical expertise in Snowflake and Matillion.
- 3+ years of experience working with Matillion.
- 2+ years of experience with a scripting or programming language such as Python.
- Experience with AWS Lambda functions and data pipelines.
- Experience implementing Change Data Capture (CDC).
- Experience with dimensional modeling, star schemas, and SCD (slowly changing dimensions) type 1 and type 2.
Qualifications
- Must be committed to incorporating security into all decisions and daily job responsibilities.
- Must currently reside in one of the following states: AL, AZ, FL, GA, ID, IL (Saint Louis Metropolitan Area Only), IN, KS, KY, LA, MO, NC, NV, OH, OK, PA, SC, TN, TX, UT, VA, or WI.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, Management Information Systems, Engineering, or a related field.
- 5+ years in an ETL/ELT development role.
- 5+ years of experience developing and supporting a data warehouse.
- Experience with Oracle Database, AWS Postgres, MySQL, and SQL Server.
- Knowledge of calling APIs and handling JSON responses.
- Experience with Oracle Data Integrator.
- Experience building self-service reporting solutions using business intelligence software (e.g., OBIEE, Looker, Power BI).
