About The Role
The Data Entry Clerk - Billing II position is a vital role within our billing department, responsible for ensuring the accuracy and completeness of billing information and patient demographics. This role involves performing detailed data entry tasks, verifying information, and collaborating with internal teams and external clients to resolve billing discrepancies.
Working Monday through Friday from 6:30 AM to 3:30 PM Eastern, the successful candidate will support the organization’s commitment to efficient billing processes and excellent customer service. This role offers an excellent opportunity for individuals with experience in medical billing, data entry, and customer service to grow within a reputable organization dedicated to healthcare excellence.
Qualifications
- A High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent work experience
- At least 1 year of customer service experience in a support, medical billing, or related environment
- Prior experience with billing data entry, eligibility, and payor knowledge
- Proficiency in computer and Windows PC applications, including keyboard skills and navigation
- Successful completion of new hire training and demonstrated proficiency in job functions
- Preferred: Some college coursework, medical terminology knowledge, or medical coding certification
- Understanding of multiple billing requirements across various payers and states
- Experience in a call center environment is a plus
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
- Strong soft skills including empathy, problem-solving, multitasking, and adaptability
Responsibilities
- Research and obtain missing information or demographics necessary for completing accessions and billing processes
- Accurately perform data entry for billing accessions, ensuring completeness and correctness
- Demonstrate competency in eligibility, billing, and receivable systems and related applications
- Educate external customers on providing complete billing information to prevent future issues
- Inform customers of billing problems or discrepancies and communicate resolutions effectively
- Handle inbound calls to address account inquiries and resolve billing issues promptly
- Respond to written correspondence regarding account inquiries when necessary
- Manage sensitive client and patient interactions with professionalism and confidentiality
- Maintain accurate documentation of all transactions, communications, and resolutions
- Generate and distribute reports to internal and external stakeholders to facilitate billing accuracy
- Identify and report trends related to errors, denials, or PHI breaches to management
- Participate in cross-functional training and additional duties as assigned to support team objectives
