About The Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Data Engineer to join our Engineering & Operations team. Reporting directly to the Director of Engineering & Operations, this role plays a critical part in designing, building, and maintaining scalable data pipelines, clean room environments, and privacy-preserving data workflows that support NBCUniversal’s data collaboration ecosystem.

The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background in SQL and Python, with hands-on experience working with cloud data platforms such as Snowflake or Databricks. This role involves developing secure, reliable, and repeatable data workflows for partner onboarding, audience activation, measurement, and reporting. The Data Engineer will collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure data security, integrity, and compliance, while optimizing platform performance and operational efficiency.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience in Computer Science, Data Engineering, Software Engineering, Information Systems, Electrical/Electronics Engineering, or a related technical field
  • Minimum of 3+ years of experience in data engineering, including building and operating production data pipelines and data products
  • Proficiency in advanced SQL and Python for data processing, automation, and pipeline development
  • At least 2+ years of hands-on experience with cloud data platforms such as Snowflake, Databricks, or similar technologies
  • Experience building scalable ELT pipelines using tools like Airflow, dbt, Snowpark, or PySpark
  • Strong understanding of data security, privacy, and access control best practices
  • Knowledge of identity resolution frameworks and privacy-safe identity workflows
  • Experience with data quality validation and monitoring frameworks such as Great Expectations or dbt tests
  • Able to optimize query performance and manage platform costs effectively
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work with cross-functional teams

Responsibilities

  • Support partner onboarding into clean room environments across platforms such as Snowflake, LiveRamp, Databricks, ensuring architecture patterns are secure, scalable, and privacy-preserving
  • Configure and manage clean room environments, including data access controls, platform setup, and release validation
  • Serve as the technical owner for partner onboarding efforts, coordinating with product, engineering, privacy, and partner teams
  • Implement privacy-preserving controls such as aggregation thresholds, anonymization, and output validation checks to ensure data privacy compliance
  • Deploy and manage reusable Python libraries, templates, and components within data platforms
  • Support environment setup, configuration management, and version-controlled library deployment across partner environments
  • Design, implement, and enforce role-based access control policies and security measures to safeguard data assets
  • Build and operate scalable ELT pipelines using SQL, Snowpark, PySpark, or similar tools for audience, measurement, and reporting datasets
  • Develop curated Gold datasets supporting various use cases, ensuring data accuracy and reliability
  • Build identity resolution logic and support privacy-safe workflows for audience matching and partner collaboration
  • Implement automated data quality checks and validation procedures to monitor data integrity and detect anomalies
  • Optimize query performance and platform costs through tuning, clustering, caching, and workload management techniques
  • Establish monitoring, alerting, and operational procedures to ensure platform stability and incident response readiness
  • Participate in incident analysis, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement initiatives for data workflows
