Data Engineer - Front End/UI, Accounting
The Accounting BI team supports the global Accounting organization with process automation and improvements, developing automated reporting solutions and tools, and enhancing the ability of the accounting organization to process, analyze, access, and consume accurate and timely financial data. The team partners closely with technical roles across the organization and various businesses and industries Amazon operates in.
The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced environment, relishes working with ambiguity and data, and enjoys challenges within highly complex business contexts. This role requires expertise in both back-end and front-end development to maintain our web portal, deep knowledge of cloud infrastructure, and the ability to optimize data for business intelligence solutions. Strong business and communication skills are essential to collaborate with business owners, define key business questions, and build solutions that address them.
Responsibilities
- Work with stakeholders and engineering teams to identify and scope the right data architecture and technology for analyzing common Amazon customer behavioral questions.
- Partner with engineering teams to enhance UI solutions, data infrastructure, data availability, and broad access to customer insights via BI tools.
- Design, build, and implement solutions using AWS and similar technologies.
- Enable large-scale solutions using Python, React, JavaScript, TypeScript, and AWS services.
- Establish and implement technology best practices across the organization.
- Develop proof of concepts for adopting new technologies and tools.
Requirements
- 5+ years of data engineering experience.
- Experience with SQL.
- Proficiency in at least one modern scripting or programming language, such as Python, Java, Scala, or NodeJS.
- Experience with AWS technologies like Redshift, S3, AWS Glue, EMR, Kinesis, FireHose, Lambda, and IAM roles and permissions.
- Knowledge of professional software engineering and best practices for the full software development life cycle, including coding standards, software architectures, code reviews, source control management, continuous deployments, testing, and operational excellence.
- Bachelor’s degree.
- Experience with non-relational databases/data stores (e.g., object storage, document or key-value stores, graph databases, column-family databases).
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree.
Pay
USA, VA, Arlington - $132,100.00 - $178,800.00 USD annually.
