HERE'S WHAT YOU’LL DO:
- Works under the direction of an IT Manager or user agency personnel and is responsible for data extraction, analysis, mapping, and conversion activities, including profiling, cleansing, transforming, validating, and loading data from multiple legacy systems into the target solution while ensuring data integrity and reconciliation.
- Contributes to defining data requirements, support cross-agency coordination, and help ensure that converted data meets the needs of business users.
- Supports coordination across organizational units, assists with planning and communication of data conversion activities, and contributes to issue identification and effective information flow among stakeholders.
- Facilitates knowledge transfer or training activities to ensure staff understand and can work with converted data.
WHAT YOU’LL NEED TO WIN:
- Strong knowledge and experience of legacy systems, flat files, mainframe-extracted data, and structured or unstructured datasets.
- Experience supporting data mapping and crosswalk analysis across organization and vendors, as well as interpreting legacy formats and data dictionaries.
- Understanding of key data conversion requirements such as retention needs, cutover sequencing, and identifying required data elements; familiarity with ETL processes, reconciliation, encrypted file validation, SFTP structures, and source-to-target relationships; ability to document extraction logic and validation rules, effective cross-organization coordination, and the ability to resolve data inconsistencies and quality issues; knowledge of government data retention and compliance standards.
Skills Required:
- Knowledge of legacy systems, flat files, mainframe-extracted data, and structured or unstructured datasets.
- Experience supporting data mapping and crosswalk analysis across organization and vendors, as well as interpreting legacy formats and data dictionaries.
- Understanding of key data conversion requirements such as retention needs, cutover sequencing, and identifying required data elements; familiarity with ETL processes, reconciliation, encrypted file validation, SFTP structures, and source-to-target relationships; ability to document extraction logic and validation rules, effective cross-organization coordination, and the ability to resolve data inconsistencies and quality issues; knowledge of government data retention and compliance standards.
Experience Required:
- Minimum of three (3) years of experience supporting field mapping, crosswalk analysis, and data validation during conversion efforts, including troubleshooting data quality issues such as blob-size anomalies and variable-length errors.
- Three (3) years of experience participating in organization coordination activities, including file reviews and data dictionary prioritization, and working with encrypted test files and regulated data.
- Three (3) years of experience working with legacy and relational data technologies such as mainframe environments, DB2, FOCUS, Oracle, and Microsoft SQL Server.
Education Required:
- A bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems, data science, engineering, or a closely related field.
