About The Role
We are seeking a highly skilled Data Platform Engineer to join our team in a telecommuting capacity, supporting operations anywhere within the United States. In this role, you will be instrumental in deploying pipelines and infrastructure to support our Customer Data Platform initiatives, both in proof of concept and production environments. Your primary responsibilities will include collaborating with internal teams and external stakeholders to integrate and optimize data platforms across the organization. You will work closely with analysts, marketing, sales, and operations teams to develop and maintain data pipelines, ensuring seamless data ingestion, transformation, and activation to drive customer engagement and retention strategies. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work at the forefront of data engineering, leveraging cloud-based data lakes, data warehouses, and analytics tools to enable digital activation throughout the customer lifecycle. Your expertise will directly impact how Red Hat utilizes data to enhance customer experiences, improve KPIs, and support strategic decision-making.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field (U.S. or foreign equivalent)
- Minimum of five (5) years of professional experience in data engineering or related roles
- Proficiency in querying databases and building batch and streaming data pipelines
- Experience with integrating data across multiple platforms and developing data sets
- Strong skills in SQL, Python, or R for data transformation and analysis
- Hands-on experience with ETL/ELT processes and data transformation techniques
- Knowledge of connecting customer contact data with account and product data
- Experience working with data lakes and data warehouses such as AWS, Redshift, Snowflake, or Starburst
Responsibilities
- Deploy and manage data pipelines and infrastructure supporting Customer Data Platform initiatives in both POC and production environments
- Collaborate with analysts to optimize data ingestion and troubleshoot data flow issues using SQL, Python, and R
- Develop and maintain data sets across various data lakes and warehouses, including AWS, Redshift, Snowflake, and Starburst
- Partner with Sales and Marketing teams to build audience segments, gather data requirements, and support segmentation questions
- Maintain knowledge of data elements, Adobe Experience Platform, and define segment, event, and attribute rule sets
- Coordinate with Marketing Technology & Operations teams on development tasks and data integration efforts
- Work across the Red Hat System of Sites to enable digital activation throughout the customer lifecycle
- Consult with business owners to establish and improve KPIs within Customer Experience initiatives
