Data Engineer

About the Role

The Engineer, Data, Senior designs, develops, and maintains databases, data integration systems, and ETL processes that support business applications and business intelligence. This role contributes to scalable and reliable data solutions by optimizing data workflows, automating business processes, resolving production issues, and maintaining comprehensive technical documentation.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and optimize data integration processes, ETL workflows, and enterprise data platforms.
• Lead the development of technical designs and functional specifications focused on scalability, reliability, and performance.
• Collaborate with business stakeholders and third-party vendors to align data integration and reporting solutions with organizational requirements.
• Develop automated solutions that improve business processes and operational efficiency.
• Maintain ETL jobs and troubleshoot critical production issues, including participation in support rotations.
• Document data processes, reports, applications, procedures, and technical workflows to promote consistency and knowledge sharing.
• Design and deploy scalable reporting and dashboard solutions with appropriate security controls.
• Support software development lifecycle activities and ensure adherence to established development and deployment standards.

Requirements

• Advanced knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server and enterprise database design and optimization.
• Strong understanding and hands-on experience with ETL concepts and Microsoft SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS).
• Experience with version control and development workflows using Microsoft DevOps.
• Expertise in leading and overseeing software development lifecycle (SDLC) processes.
• Advanced T-SQL programming, scripting, query optimization, and troubleshooting skills.
• Advanced analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking abilities.
• Ability to understand and follow written and verbal instructions effectively.
• High school diploma or equivalent; bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field preferred.
• Minimum 4 years of IT experience focused on relational databases, ETL, data warehousing, business intelligence, reporting, and dashboard development.
• Experience with database management systems, particularly Microsoft SQL Server, and ETL tools such as SSIS.

Skills

• Preferred experience integrating applications through APIs and working with Microsoft BI technologies such as SSRS, SSAS, and Power BI.
• Familiarity with cloud-based data services such as Azure Data Factory, Microsoft Fabric, Snowflake, or Databricks is a plus.
• Proficiency in programming languages commonly used in data engineering, such as Python or Java.

Pay

Target pay range: $140,000–$160,000 per year.
