About the role

This role focuses on transforming raw agricultural, sensor, and operational data into reliable, actionable insights that support smarter water management and infrastructure optimization.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain scalable data pipelines for structured and unstructured data sources (IoT sensors, irrigation systems, field data, and business systems).
  • Build and optimize ETL/ELT workflows to ensure accurate, timely, and reliable data availability.
  • Integrate data from irrigation control systems, weather APIs, soil sensors, and enterprise platforms.
  • Develop and maintain data warehouses and data lakes using modern cloud platforms.
  • Ensure data quality, consistency, and governance across all datasets.
  • Collaborate with data analysts, agronomists, and engineering teams to support reporting and predictive analytics.
  • Maintain system performance, data latency, and storage efficiency.
  • Implement data security best practices and ensure compliance with company standards.
  • Support development of dashboards and analytics tools for irrigation performance and resource optimization.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, data engineering, information systems, or a related field.
  • 2–5+ years of experience in data engineering or related roles.
  • Strong experience with SQL and relational databases.
  • Proficiency in Python or Java for data processing and automation.
  • Experience with ETL tools and frameworks (Airflow, dbt, Spark, or similar).
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud).
  • Understanding of data warehousing concepts and data modeling.
  • Experience working with APIs and real-time data ingestion.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with IoT or sensor-based data systems.
  • Background in agriculture technology, irrigation systems, or environmental data.
  • Knowledge of streaming data platforms (Kafka, Kinesis, etc.).
  • Familiarity with GIS or geospatial data.
  • Experience building dashboards using tools like Power BI, Tableau, or Looker.
