About the role
This role focuses on transforming raw agricultural, sensor, and operational data into reliable, actionable insights that support smarter water management and infrastructure optimization.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain scalable data pipelines for structured and unstructured data sources (IoT sensors, irrigation systems, field data, and business systems).
- Build and optimize ETL/ELT workflows to ensure accurate, timely, and reliable data availability.
- Integrate data from irrigation control systems, weather APIs, soil sensors, and enterprise platforms.
- Develop and maintain data warehouses and data lakes using modern cloud platforms.
- Ensure data quality, consistency, and governance across all datasets.
- Collaborate with data analysts, agronomists, and engineering teams to support reporting and predictive analytics.
- Maintain system performance, data latency, and storage efficiency.
- Implement data security best practices and ensure compliance with company standards.
- Support development of dashboards and analytics tools for irrigation performance and resource optimization.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, data engineering, information systems, or a related field.
- 2–5+ years of experience in data engineering or related roles.
- Strong experience with SQL and relational databases.
- Proficiency in Python or Java for data processing and automation.
- Experience with ETL tools and frameworks (Airflow, dbt, Spark, or similar).
- Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud).
- Understanding of data warehousing concepts and data modeling.
- Experience working with APIs and real-time data ingestion.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with IoT or sensor-based data systems.
- Background in agriculture technology, irrigation systems, or environmental data.
- Knowledge of streaming data platforms (Kafka, Kinesis, etc.).
- Familiarity with GIS or geospatial data.
- Experience building dashboards using tools like Power BI, Tableau, or Looker.
