About the role

As a Data Engineer at Booz Allen, you'll play a crucial role in organizing and making disparate data available and meaningful across various mission-driven projects. You'll work closely with a multi-disciplinary team to design, develop, and deploy end-to-end automated data and ML pipelines within a cloud environment.

Responsibilities

  • Implement data engineering activities on complex projects involving structured and unstructured data.
  • Develop and maintain data pipelines, focusing on data acquisition, data preparation, and database architecture.
  • Write ETL scripts using Java, Python, SQL, or Scala to transform data from various sources.
  • Design, build, and manage data storage solutions, including databases like PostgreSQL.
  • Deploy and operate data processing systems using AWS services.
  • Collaborate with data consumers and other stakeholders to understand business needs and translate them into technical solutions.
  • Participate in Agile development practices to deliver high-quality data engineering solutions.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience with data pipelines, including data acquisition, data prep, and database architecture.
  • At least 3 years of experience in ETL development using Java, Python, SQL, or Scala.
  • At least 2 years of experience with PostgreSQL or Kafka.
  • Experience with AWS services.
  • Experience with designing and implementing, containerizing, and deploying end-to-end automated data and ML pipelines within a cloud environment.
  • Knowledge of the ML lifecycle and concepts to develop an MLOps ecosystem.
  • A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.

Qualifications

  • Experience with Kafka ecosystem tools, such as Kafka Connect and Kafka Streams.
  • Experience with NiFi.
  • Experience with infrastructure-as-code tools, such as Terraform or Ansible.
  • Experience with Agile development methodologies.
  • Experience working on real-time data and streaming applications.
  • Possession of excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.

Skills

  • Strong understanding of data engineering principles and best practices.
  • Proficiency in scripting languages like Java, Python, SQL, or Scala.
  • Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS.
  • Knowledge of data warehousing and database management systems.
  • Experience with data integration and transformation tools.
  • Understanding of machine learning and its application in data engineering.

Pay

The projected compensation range for this position is $77,600.00 to $176,000.00 (annualized USD).

This position offers a flexible schedule, with options for remote, hybrid, or onsite work depending on the role and customer requirements.
