About the role

The Data Collector supports a large-scale Army test and evaluation program by providing data collection, technical writing, computer operations, range scheduling, and administrative support services. This entry-level position develops practical knowledge of equipment, procedures, and tools through classroom and on-the-job training. Support encompasses testing of automotive, combat, electronic, general equipment, and ordnance materiel, including data collection, compilation, processing, form development, test monitoring, technical writing, reporting, software administration, and range scheduling. Work is primarily onsite in Aberdeen, Maryland, with travel within the Continental United States (CONUS) and Outside the Continental United States (OCONUS) as required. This position is contingent upon contract award.

Responsibilities

• Acquire practical knowledge of equipment characteristics, properties, and uses through formal and informal training.
• Become familiar with established or repetitive data collection procedures.
• Assist with visually examining equipment or test items for flaws or defects on routine projects.
• Observe equipment operation to detect apparent malfunctions.
• Monitor simple test instruments and controls during tests and record related data.
• Download test data from onboard instrumentation.
• Perform specified arithmetic computations.
• Extract and compile data, including narrative information, from records, specifications, and drawings.
• Capture image data in support of test activities.
• Perform job functions at sites other than Aberdeen as required by mission needs.

Requirements

• One (1) year of experience using a computer and Microsoft software; OR successful completion of two (2) accredited computer classes.
• GPA of 2.5 or higher in math and science disciplines and a GPA of 3.0 or higher in high school English (or 2.5 or higher in college English) from an accredited institution.
• High school diploma.
• Proficiency in speaking, reading, writing, and understanding English.
• Clear and concise oral and written communication skills.
• Proficiency in computers and Microsoft Office software.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.
• Ability to meet physical requirements, including working in extreme heat or cold, high humidity, blowing sand and dust, confined spaces, at heights, and walking distances over unimproved terrain while wearing required personal protective equipment (PPE).
• Availability to support work outside normal duty hours as required by mission needs.
• Willingness and ability to travel within CONUS and OCONUS as required.
