Responsibilities
- Recruit museum visitors to participate in surveys including addressing any questions before and after participation.
- Inform visitors of their participation rights (voluntary participation, anonymity, confidentiality, and the right to withdraw).
- Explain the survey process, including question types and completion options (paper and digital).
- Provide visitors with paper and digital survey options (QR code).
- Conduct observations of museum visitors in the galleries including observing museum visitors' behaviors (e.g., visitors' interactions with exhibits and within the galleries).
- Record observation notes on an observation protocol document.
- Safeguard data (paper surveys and/or observation notes), and adhere to guidelines for submitting data.
- Maintain professional demeanor and attire while at the museum.
Requirements
- Must be a U.S. citizen.
- Must have reliable transportation.
- Must be available to work 4-to-8-hour shifts from 9a-5p ET, including weekdays and/or weekends and some holidays, when the museum is open.
- Must bring a personal smart phone.
- Prior experience and/or coursework in research methods and/or data collection is preferred.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are preferred.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team is required.
- Experience in the museum field is a plus.
Pay
The pay range for this role is 20 - 20 USD per hour (Triangle, VA).
