Key Responsibilities
- Provide onsite support for equipment, cabling, racking/stacking, and incident resolution at client ACDC (Chicago) & FTDC (Franklin) data centers, as well as colocation sites as required.
- Perform physical interventions to resolve hardware or facility incidents requiring local presence. Coordinate actions with facilities management and resolver groups as needed, including out-of-hours emergencies.
- Monitor and participate in the management of data center environmental elements (HVAC, UPS, power, cable plant, fire/safety systems, physical access, etc.). Notify management of disruptions.
- Create access tickets for colocation providers, escort vendor engineers, and facilitate controlled access to client cages/cabinets.
- Assist with data center operations documentation during knowledge transfer and maintain such records during business-as-usual (BAU) operations.
- Execute racking, un-racking, inventory management, asset installations, and move/change activities for in-scope devices.
- Handle rack movements and space management with relevant teams, including supervision during scheduled and unscheduled maintenance outside of standard business hours.
- Support lifecycle management of servers and devices: identification, requisition, ordering, receipt, inventory, maintenance, update/tracking, and disposal. Input and maintain asset and CMDB records, and perform quarterly asset audits as per SLAs.
Minimum Qualifications & Skills
- Experience in physical data center operations (Smart Hands/Feet, hardware replacement, troubleshooting, cabling).
- Familiarity with environmental controls: HVAC, UPS systems, monitoring, and access controls.
- Background in documentation and process adherence: understanding SLAs, reporting, and compliance in IT environments.
- Asset management skills, including CMDB experience, inventory tracking, record maintenance, and conducting periodic audits.
- Ability to coordinate with vendors, engineers, facilities, and IT teams for incident resolution and maintenance tasks.
- Willingness to work dedicated shifts that may include weekends, nights, or extended operational hours per the support model.
