Data Center Technician, DCC Communities

About the role
Amazon Web Services (AWS) is seeking Data Center Technicians to support our customers in multiple locations. This position requires reporting to a site location and may involve participation in a primary responder rotation, including monitoring data center infrastructure, coordinating incident responses, and partnering with teams to resolve issues impacting service availability. Responsibilities may require evening, weekend, holiday, or night work to ensure global data center reliability. Travel within and outside the regional work area is required, and candidates must have a reliable personal vehicle and valid driver’s license.
Responsibilities
- Perform server rack installations, hardware break-fix on various components, and troubleshoot network issues.
- Respond to operational incidents impacting service availability, escalating as needed.
- Serve as a primary contact for internal and external stakeholders, including engineers, developers, vendors, and contractors.
- Participate in on-call duties, scheduled maintenance, and change management activities.
- Contribute to documentation and process improvements based on operational issue analysis.
- Train and onboard new team members.
- Work in a 24/7 environment, including shift work (days/nights/weekends/holidays).
Physical Requirements
- Regularly lift and/or move up to 40 pounds; participate in group lifts for 41+ pounds.
- Work in cramped, elevated, or noisy environments.
- Bend, lift, stretch, reach, stand, and walk for up to 8+ hours daily.
- Safely ascend and descend ladders, stairs, and gangways without limitation.
Qualifications
Basic Qualifications
- 2+ years of computer hardware troubleshooting and repair experience.
- 1+ years of computer networking experience.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience dealing effectively with customers during problem resolution and operating under pressure.

Pay
Starting pay for this position ranges from $27.98 to $48.99 USD hourly, based on experience, qualifications, and location.
