Randstad is responsible for the entire day-to-day management of state-of-the-art data center operations throughout the United States for a multinational banking and financial services holding company. This is the largest data center of its kind in the United States, supporting total worldwide assets in excess of US$2 trillion.

About the role

World-class data center seeking an experienced Data Center Technician for a long-term project role. This position offers a creative schedule that enables extra days off compared to a normal 5-day workweek, unique workload variety each day, and opportunities for growth and advancement.

Responsibilities

  • Rack and stack enterprise-class technology (network, storage, and enterprise servers).
  • Run, trace, dress, and test copper and fiber cables from patch panel to device.
  • Troubleshoot and diagnose hardware and connectivity issues.
  • Commission and decommission hardware.
  • Perform component replacement (DIMMs, hard drives, power supplies).
  • Adhere to change control processes.
  • Document complex problem resolution summaries and repetitive tasks in an online ticketing system.
  • Manage switch/port configurations and assess outage risks.
  • Demonstrate strong cable management skills for fiber and copper in a data center environment.

Requirements

  • Previous experience working in a complex, high-availability data center environment providing layer-one hardware installation, ongoing maintenance, problem identification, and incident resolution.
  • Hands-on expertise with midrange systems in large-scale (100+ servers) environments—IBM, HP, Oracle, and Dell server hardware.
  • Exceptional troubleshooting and problem-resolution skills.
  • Understanding of data center processes and design.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, walk long distances, and safely use a step stool when needed.

Qualifications

  • No degree required.
  • Certifications such as A+, Server+, or Network+ are a plus.
  • Technical writing and documentation skills are preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office.

Schedule

  • Rotating shifts: Back-end PM shift (noon to midnight) or Back-end AM shift (midnight to noon).

Pay

$25 - $28 per hour.
