Data Center Technician

About the role

This position requires the successful candidate to report to a site location. The role involves hardware and network diagnostics followed by physical repair and may include participation in an on-call rotation. Candidates should be willing to work both independently and with a team, prioritize work, organize tasks, communicate effectively, and react quickly.

Responsibilities

• Working to meet Service Level Agreements (SLAs) against assigned trouble tickets via a directed workflow.
• Being the first line of touchpoint for hardware troubleshooting and technical issues.
• Performing regular server hardware repairs (drives, motherboards, etc.).
• Carrying out routine network, server hardware, and OS-related repairs.
• Working with cross-functional teams on a regular basis to complete routine work.
• Adhering to security and safety best practices in the data center.
• Participating in team meetings for metric analysis and daily/weekly goals achievement.
• Identifying and helping create documentation for use globally.
• Identifying and helping create process improvements relevant to the data center environment.
• Performing server upgrades, rebuilds, and scheduled works as required.
• Interacting with third-party vendors and contractors.
• Contributing to the development of other team members.

Requirements

• 1+ years of computer hardware troubleshooting and repair experience.
• 1+ years of computer networking experience.
• A high school diploma or equivalent.

Qualifications

• Willingness to work in an environment that operates 24/7 with an ability to participate in on-call rotation and provide after-hours support as needed.
• Ability to regularly lift and/or move up to 40 pounds; and participate in group lifts for 41+ pounds.
• Some regional travel may be required.

• Strong aptitude for troubleshooting and problem-solving.
• Effective communication and organizational skills.
• Ability to react quickly and maintain service level agreements.
• Experience dealing effectively with customers during problem resolution and operating efficiently under pressure.
• Knowledge of AWS infrastructure and operations.

Pay

The starting pay for this position is listed below. Final starting pay will be based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
